During the Ice Age, woolly mammoths (Mammuthus primigenius) roamed across vast stretches of northern Eurasia and North America. One of the most significant migration events in their history occurred via the Bering Land Bridge — a now-submerged landmass that once connected Siberia and Alaska.
Roughly 100,000 to 15,000 years ago, lowered sea levels caused by glaciation exposed this corridor, known as Beringia. Mammoths, along with other Pleistocene megafauna and early humans, used this route to migrate between continents in search of food and favorable climates.
This migration helped establish mammoth populations throughout North America, where they thrived until their eventual extinction around 10,000 years ago.
In this short clip, I reconstructed a small section of the strait area where two lonely mammoths advance crossing the Beringia corridor.
